Smith was removed from Monday’s game as part of the league’s concussion protocol.
Smith was bumped into by Ducks’ winger Jakob Silfverberg and it knocked his mask off. A spotter pulled Smith from the game, which led to Marek Langhamer’s NHL debut. The rookie stopped all seven shots that he faced to preserve the victory and head coach Dave Tippett said Smith is “fine.”
Smith surrendered four goals on 33 shots in the Coyotes’ win over the Sharks on Saturday. Smith has won three of his last four starts while allowing a combined 10 goals on 144 shots (.931 SV%). Tonight he’ll make his second start of the season vs. the Ducks—he allowed three goals on 35 shots in a 3-2 OT loss in the first meeting.
Smith stopped 41 of 44 shots in the Coyotes’ win in Los Angeles on Thursday. Smith has won three in a row while posting an impressive .1.95 GAAm .946 SV% and one shutout. He has turned in some great performances this season, but is too inconsistent to trust on a regular basis. However, he is 2-0-1 with a 1.93 GAA and .953 SV% in three starts vs. the Sharks this season.

Domingue allowed four goals on 25 shots in the Coyotes’ loss in Minnesota in his last outing. Mike Smith started the last nine games, including last night, so Domingue will go tonight in Edmonton. He has gone 2-8-1 with a 4.16 GAA and .870 SV% in 13 road appearances this season.
Jooris was a healthy scratch for the last four games and seven of the last eight contests, but will draw in for Lawson Crouse (lower-body) tonight in Calgary. Jooris played for Calgary in the first two years of his career, collecting a total of 16 goals and 21 assists (37 points) in 119 games.
Crouse is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and is not in Calgary with the team. Crouse will not play Tuesday either, but will be evaluated over the next few days and could join the team in Los Angeles on Thursday. Crouse will be replaced by Josh Jooris in the lineup tonight.
Smith allowed three goals on 31 shots in the Coyotes’ shootout win over the Penguins on Saturday. Smith has gone 5-2-1 with a 2.69 GAA, .918 SV% and one shutout in his last eight starts and tonight he will be making his forth start vs. Calgary. The 34-year-old has gone 0-1-2 with a 2.32 GAA and .919 SV% in the first three meetings.
Smith allowed five goals on 40 shots in the Coyotes’ loss to the Canadiens on Thursday. Smith has dropped three of his last four starts while registering an ugly 3.43 GAA and .903 SV%. In his first start against the Penguins, Smith was pulled after he allowed four goals on 22 shots in a 7-0 loss.
