He’s been playing with an ankle injury since December, it’s been killing him the last couple weeks and he expects to undergo surgery next week.
Backstrom played hurt for the final three months of the season which says a good deal about his resolve. Expect Backstrom to improve on this year's totals should he remain healthy all season.

Latendresse should be back to 100 percent to start the season. In 16 games, he scored five goals and nine points.
