Greene (upper-body) will return to the Devils’ lineup on Friday.
Greene has been out since January 3rd, but will be back after a one-month absence. Greene, who has nine points (3G / 6A) in 39 games this season skated on the Devils’ top power play unit during Thursday’s practice.
The Devils have placed Andy Greene (upper-body) on IR.
Greene has missed the last three games with an upper-body injury and has been placed on IR retroactive to January 3rd. Despite being moved to IR, Greene will travel with the team to Edmonton and is eligible to return whenever he is ready to go.
The Devils signed Andy Greene to a five-year deal worth $25 million, the deal also includes a no-trade clause.
Greene, 31, is an underrated defenseman and the $5 million dollar cap-hit is a really fair deal for both sides. Greene had eight goals and 24 assists (32 points) in 82 games for the Devils last season. The eight goals set a new career-high for the eight year veteran. He will be back eating up close to 25 minutes a night, including tons of power-play time in 2014-15. He is not a big name, so he can come at a cheap price on draft day.
Pete DeBoer doesn't expect D Andy Greene (left foot) to play vs. NYR next Tues. but is hopeful he'll be able to practice with team on Mon.
Sounds like Greene's recovery isn't going according to originally planned. The Trenton, Michigan native registered nine assists in 23 games with the Devils before getting hurt. He won't return until the end of the month at the absolute earliest.
