Smith surrendered five goals on 33 shots in Colorado’s loss in Chicago on Sunday. The 27-year-old has struggled to a 1-5-0 record, 3.43 GAA and .890 SV% since being recalled from San Antonio (AHL). Things will not get any easier for him tonight as the Avalanche host Connor McDavid and the Oilers.
Smith allowed three goals on 37 shots in the Canucks’ win over the Sabres on Saturday. He has allowed three goals in each of his NHL starts this season while posting a .914 SV%. He’ll take on a Flyers team that has lost four of their last five games.
Smith will make his first career start Tuesday in New Jersey.

Smith will come up and serve as Calvin Pickard’s backup after going 5-8-0 with a 2.57 GAA and .911 SV%. This move is likely more about getting Spencer Martin games while Pickard is playing well then wanting to call-up Smith.
The Bruins have recalled Jeremy Smith from Providence (AHL) on an emergency basis.
Smith, 26, has gone 7-3-1 with a 2.07 GAA and .932 SV% in 11 games with Providence this season. His recall suggests that something is ailing either Tuukka Rask or Jonas Gustavsson and Smith will be backing one of them up in Wednesday’s game in New York.
Smith has cleared waivers and the Bruins have reassigned him to Providence (AHL).
