The Predators signed Yannick Weber to a one-year contract worth $575K.
After the Predators traded Shea Weber to Montreal they needed to bring in another Weber. The 27-year-old defenseman is known for his offensive ability and the power-play is his primary strength. He had just seven assists in 45 games with Vancouver last season, but had 11 gaols in 65 games the year prior.
Weber will be in the lineup on Saturday vs. Detroit.
Weber has only appeared in one game this season. He played 19:55 and had one shot on goal and a plus-1 rating. Weber will play a key role on the Canucks power-play whenever he gets into the lineup. Tonight he will replace Matt Bartkowski.
Weber has proven to be a serviceable NHL defenceman since being drafted in 2007. However, he has found himself in a log jam on the blueline in Vancouver, but could be claimed before noon tomorrow by a team lacking D depth.
We knew Tinordi was going to play today but is was unknown who was going to come out. It will be Weber who has been paired with Andrei Markov. We'll have to see if Tinordi plays with Markov or if someone else is moved up.
Weber and Kaberle are rotating in on right side of Bouillon on #Habs third D pair.
Weber has been out with a knee injury and has only played in two games this season. The last was on March 7th, but he only played 7:35 and was back in the dressing room. It sounds like Weber will play over Kaberle tomorrow.
