The newly acquired Ponikarovsky is getting a chance to play on the Devils top line with Zajac and Kovalchuk. This definitely boosts Poni's fantasy value from what it was when he was with Winnipeg. He still isn't a great fantasy option but whenever you are playing with Kovalchuk and Zajac there is opportunity to produce.

The Devils have reacquired left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky from the Winnipeg Jets. The Devils gave the Jets a 2014 fourth-round pick and a 2013 seventh-round pick.
Ponikarovksy had just 2 goals in 12 games with the Jets this season. He had 18 points in 33 games with New Jersey in 2011-2012.

The Devils have acquired left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky from the Carolina Hurricanes for the Devils’ 2012 fourth-round draft pick and Albany Devils defenseman Joe Sova, the team announced tonight.
Ponikarovsky should add depth to the Devils' forward corps. Through 49 games with Carolina, he scored seven goals and 15 points. Despite moving to a defensive system, expect him to get a slight boost in fantasy hockey value.
