Whitney is not expected to play tonight but skating is certainly a good sign. He has three assists through 17 games.

Whitney was unable to skate for the full practice so expect him to sit out tomorrow's game.

Ryan Whitney says he can't envision being 100% any time soon. Says he's as pissed off as the people watching. Says he feels average.
Whitney entered the season as a favorite to handle the team's offensive load from the blue line. However, it is clear the Boston native hasn't fully recovered from season-ending surgery. It might be a good idea to give him a pass for the rest of the season.

The Oilers may have recalled Alex Plante to play for Whitney tonight. The former 5th overall pick continues to struggle offensively with only three assists in 17 games.

Edmonton Oilers defenceman Ryan Whitney, who has only played 65 minutes and 14 seconds during the last 11 months, will return to action Friday afternoon against the Minnesota Wild.
Whitney will play in only his fifth game of the season and is expected to jump right into top pairing minutes. He should be very valuable to this revived Oilers offense, picking up on his 27 points in 35 games of last year.
