DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings right wing Jan Mursak anticipated being cleared to play by team doctors Tuesday night and catching a flight to Cleveland today to play for the Griffins at Lake Erie.
Expect Mursak to return to the team in a week or two.
Jan Mursak, out since Sept. 25 with a fractured ankle, is scheduled to begin a two-week conditioning stint with the Grand Rapids Griffins, possibly immediately after the NHL roster freeze is lifted on Tuesday. Mursak was expected to play five games for the Griffins before returning to Detroit.
Expect Mursak to reenter the forward mix in a matter of weeks.
Mursak said he's about two weeks away from being able to play. He'll go to the Griffins on a conditioning stint (maximum 14 days) and then return to Detroit.
Mursak should provide energy from the bottom line but won't have too much fantasy hockey impact.
