DETROIT – Detroit Red Wings goaltender Joey MacDonald is relieved that an MRI revealed that he does not have a bulging disc in his back.
Good news that MacDonald doesn't need surgery but the backup goalie is reporting close to no progress.

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Detroit Red Wings goaltender Joey MacDonald experienced some back spams following Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, prompting the club to recall Jordan Pearce from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Sounds like MacDonald will miss at least one game. With Jimmy Howard not back to 100 percent, the options for the Red Wings are looking slightly worse.
