The Red Wings have recalled Joakim Andersson from Grand Rapids (AHL).
Andersson, 27, has split his time between the Red Wings and the Griffins this season. He has just three points (1G / 2A) in 28 games with Detroit and three goals, two assists in 19 games with Grand Rapids. There’s no word if his recall is injury related or if the Red Wings are looking to get a more defensive minded player on their fourth line in Saturday’s season finale.
Andersson (foot) could return to the Red Wings lineup Sunday.
Andersson has missed the last six games with a broken foot, but could be back tonight vs. the Wild. Andersson had a good day of practice on Friday, so his chances of returning look pretty good right now.
Andersson (foot) participated in Red Wings' practice Friday.
Andersson said that he felt good after his first full practice since breaking his foot. He would not commit to how soon he would return, but said it will matter with how much pain he can deal with. He will not play tomorrow but monitor Andersson's status before Sunday's game vs. the WIld.
Andersson (lower-body) has been activated from IR and will return tonight.
Andersson missed the last six games, but will return to the Red Wings injury ravaged lineup tonight. He will skate on what is listed as the top-line, with Gustav Nyquist and Justin Abdelkader, but the Wings really have lines 2A, 2B, 2C right now.
#RedWings calling up Joakim Andersson to offset loss of Todd Bertuzzi.
Andersson has 10 G and 17 A in 36 games this season for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. He has only played 5 games in the NHL. If he cracks the Red WIngs lineup and scores he could stay up with the big club, depending on how long Bertuzzi is out, but for now he is irrelevant in fantasy.
