EDMONTON - Edmonton Oilers defenceman Andy Sutton has agreed to a new one-year contract for reportedly between $1.5 million and $1.75 million US a season that takes the unrestricted free agent out of the picture on NHL trade deadline day.
Sutton re-signs with the Oilers -- a team that craves his physical presence. In the 33 games he hasn't been suspended this season, the 6'6" blue-liner registered three goals and six points.
As expected, Sutton gets the book thrown at him as he continues to make dirty plays. Despite his 50 PIM in 16 games he should be dropped across formats.
Edmonton defenseman Andy Sutton has been suspended indefinitely by National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety for his hit on Alexei Ponikarovsky of the Carolina Hurricanes during Wednesday's game.
Sutton will get at least five games so drop him in all formats.
