#CBJ LW R.J. Umberger has been placed on injured reserve, and is considered week-to-week.
Umberger was injured over a week ago so he can come off IR at any time. He has seven goals and 18 points in what should be considered a down season. He has no timetable for his return.
R.J. Umberger stepped on the ice as practice began this morning, but not soon after, skated over to Richards and the two had a brief conversation. After the skate, Richards delivered the bad news: Umberger has been diagnosed with concussion-like symptons and is likely to miss time.
Umberger was apparently injured well before yesterday but only felt the effects days later. The winger is listed as out indefinitely, which does not bode well for the Blue Jackets. He scored seven goals and 18 points in 42 games before getting hurt.
Umberger moves down to the fourth line after playing mostly on a scoring line all season. The Pittsburgh has disappointed with only three goals and seven points on the season.
Umberger moves up to the top line as coach Scott Arniel jumbles the lines. In his first five games, the Pittsburgh native has one assist with a minus-2 rating. The team hopes he can get it going and help them win games.

Umberger scored a career-high 57 points last season and improve even further with added playing time. Considering Jeff Carter and Tomas Kubalik are already down with assorted ailments, Umberger could find himself back on the top line sooner rather than later.
