The Blues have acquired Zach Sanford, a 2017 first round pick and a conditional 2018 second round pick from the Capitals for Kevin Shattenkirk.
Sanford, 22, was a second round pick in 2013 (No.61 overall) and has appeared in his first 26 career NHL games this season. Sanford has two goals and one assist in his brief NHL career and is expected to serve as a healthy scratch in his first game with the Blues. Sanford has 11 goals and five assists (16 points) in 25 games with Hershey (AHL).
The Capitals have recalled Zach Sanford from Hershey (AHL).
Sanford, 22, registered just one assist in 19 games with the Capitals this season, but picked up seven points (4G / 3A) in six games with Hershey after being sent down. He returns to the Capitals and could draw into the lineup tonight vs. the Canadiens.
Sanford is expected to be a healthy scratch on Tuesday.
Sanford appeared in his first two NHL games to start the season, but he will be replaced by Brett Conolly in the lineup tonight. Sanford had no points with one shots and two penalty minutes in the first two games.
