The NHL suspended Matthew Tkachuk for two games for elbowing Drew Doughty.
Tkachuk caught Drew Doughty with an elbow and will miss the Flames next two games. Tkachuk will not play on Tuesday or Thursday and should be replaced by Michael Ferland (illness) as long as he is good-to-go.
Tkachuk (wrist) is expected to return to the Flames’ lineup on Tuesday.
Tkachuk missed the last two games with a wrist injury, but he was back at practice on Monday and is expected to play on Tuesday. Tkachuk has registered six points (3G / 3A) in his first 12 career NHL games. Tkachuk is expected to skate on the Flames’ second line with Mikael Backlund and Michael Frolik.
Tkachuk will be back in the Flames lineup on Tuesday.
Tkachuk was a healthy scratch in each of the last two games, but will replace Freddie Hamilton in the lineup tonight. Tkachuk has averaged 11:55 TOI per game and has one goal on nine shots in his first five NHL games.
Tkachuk will make the Flames’ opening night roster.
Tkachuk was selected sixth overall this summer after picking up 107 points (30G / 77A) in 57 games with the London Knights. Tkachuk has impressed in his first NHL training camp and will break camp with the Flames. He is expected to start on a line with Sam Bennett and Troy Brouwer, which gives him an excellent chance to produce right away.
