General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Bryan Rodney on an emergency basis from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.
Rodney is the latest minor leaguer to come up to the Oilers' blue line. His last NHL game came back on December 29th, 2010.
The Ducks also put defenseman Bryan Rodney on waivers, likely with the intention of assigning him to Syracuse. Rodney, 27, has played in 33 NHL games over the last three seasons with Carolina.
It could mean that hopefuls with some NHL experience such as Matt Smaby, Bryan Rodney and Nate Guenin could be in the mix for the season-opening games in Helsinki and Stockholm.
Look for one of the three to take over for Foster on the blue line.
