Grigorenko who hasn't played for Buffalo since March 12, will be in the lineup Monday. Patrick Kaleta is out after getting hurt blocking a shot Friday.
Grigorenko has dressed 22 times for the Sabres and recorded just a goal and four assists. The organization sent him back to Quebec in mid-March to compete in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs. Buffalo recalled him Tuesday and he's been practicing with the team. He centered Jochen Hecht and Nathan Gerbe in practice Sunday.
Grigorenko was scratched in the Sabres last game but will draw back into the lineup tonight. The rookie only has 1 G and 2 A in 12 games this year but is still trying to find his way around the NHL. He only holds fantasy value in keeper leagues.
Grigorenko just played in his 5th game of the season which meant it is time for the Sabres to decide whether or not to keep him or send him back to juniors. The fact that he is on the ice this morning seems like he will stay with the team. However he has been a non-factor this season recording 0 points in 5 contests.
Grigorenko’s skating with Ville Leino and Steve Ott, a sign he could be in the lineup Sunday afternoon against Philadelphia.
Grigorenko wasn't expected to make the team this year, so he must have had a great camp. He is a big body that plays even bigger than his 6'3" frame. He still has room to grow as well, but wait and see how he translates his game from camp to live action before rushing to the waiver wire.
