The Lightning have signed Evgeni Nabokov to a one-year contract worth $1.55 million.
Nabokov was 15-14-8 with a 2.74 GAA and .905 SV% with the Islanders last season. Towards the end of the season he was splitting time with Anders Nilsson, but he is more likely to be in a back-up role in Tampa Bay.
Nabokov surrendered three goals on 29 shots in a loss to the Capitals on Saturday. Nabby was given the next two nights off, but the Isles will get him back between the pipes tonight vs. Montreal. At age-38, Nabokov has gone 14-14-8 with a 2.82 GAA and .903 SV% this season. He is in the final year of his contract, so who knows where he will be next season.
Nabokov allowed two goals on 22 shots in a win over the Panthers on Tuesday. He has alternated wins and losses in each of his last six games with a 2.46 GAA and .913 SV%. Tonight, he will attempt to completely end the Capitals season. He is 1-1-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .902 SV% vs. Washington this season.
Nabokov allowed two goals on 31 shots in a loss in Tampa Bay last Thursday. The Isles have alternated goalies in each of the past five games, so tonight vs. Florida is Nabby's turn. He wrapped March up at 2-2-2 with a 3.12 GAA, .894 SV% and one shutout. It is a battle of two bad teams tonight, so it is up to you if you want to take a risk on the 13-year veteran netminder.
Nabokov stopped all 41 shots that he faced in a 2- win over the Blue Jackets on Sunday. After allowing 26 goals in his previous seven starts (3.71 G/G), no one saw a 41-save shutout coming. Despite the shutout, he is not a good option tonight in Tampa Bay vs. Steven Stamkos who has seven goals and three assists in his last seven games.
Nabokov allowed four goals on 26 shots in a loss to the Sharks on March 14th. He was given the next two games off, but will be back in goal this afternoon vs. the Blue Jackets. The Isles are way out of the playoff picture, but could play spoiler today with the Jackets firmly in the playoff picture. However, from a fantasy standpoint, Nabby is not a good option.
Nabokov gave up four goals on 24 shots in a 7-4 win over the Canucks on Monday. The win was had more to do with the Canucks complete third-period collapse than Nabokov. He has allowed 22 goals (3.66 G/PG) in his last six starts. He has a terrible matchup tonight and should be avoided in all formats.
Nabokov allowed three goals on 29 shots in a loss to the Oilers on Wednesday. He has lost four of his last five starts while allowing 18 goals on 116 shots (.845 SV%). He is losing his 'starter' tag on Long Island, but does it really matter? They are terrible and you probably should own him regardless if he is the number-1 or not.
Nabokov gave up five goals on 19 shots before being pulled on Saturday vs. the Devils. After an ugly performance the Isles elected to start Anders Nilsson in the last two games. They will go back to Nabby tonight, but with Thomas Vanek now in Montreal and John Tavares out for the season, Islanders goalies have become even less trustworthy than they already were.
Nabokov allowed four goals on 22 shots in a 5-4 OT win over the Maple Leafs on Thursday. Despite not having John Tavares or Frans Nielsen, the Islanders were able to push five past a rusty-looking Jonathan Bernier. This afternoon, Nabby will face the Devils for the third time this season. In the first two contests he has gone 1-1-0 with a 2.42 GAA and .907 SV%.
Nabokov allowed three goals on 25 shots in a loss to the Avalanche in his final start before the break. He managed to win one game in five attempts after returning from a leg injury. Despite losing four of five, Nabby posted a 2.16 GAA and .921 SV%. With John Tavares out for the remainder of the season and Thomas Vanek likely on his way out, Nabokov's value heading forward appears to be rather slim.
Nabokov allowed three goals on 21 shots in a loss to the Flames on Thursday. He has lost three of his last four starts despite posting a 1.94 GAA and .930 SV%. Tonight he gets the start against the Avalanche on Long Island. He enters play with a 3-7-2 record, 2.62 GAA and .910 SV% at home this season.
Nabokov stopped all 22 shots he faced in a 1-0 victory over the Capitals on Tuesday. It was Nabby's 10th win and second shutout in 27 starts this season. He gets a great matchup tonight with the Calgary Flames in town.
Nabokov allowed three goals on 36 shots in a second straight loss to the Rangers on Friday. He has posted a 2.53 GAA and .924 SV% in two starts since returning from his leg injury. The first time he faced the Capitals, they lit him up for six goals on 39 shots.
Nabokov allowed two goals on 34 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers at Yankee Stadium. It was a strong outing for his first start in nearly one-month. He will get another crack at the Rangers tonight, he is 1-2-0 with a 2.70 GAA and .902 SV% in his first three starts vs. their New York rivals.
