Backstrom confirms he's back
Expect Backstrom to play on the top line tonight between Marcus Johansson and Alex Ovechkin. Sidelined since January 3rd with a concussion, the pivot scored 13 goals and 42 points on the season.

#Caps spokesman says Nicklas Backstrom is making the trip to Boston with the team.
Backstrom is cleared for contact, cleared by doctors and is now travelling with the team. Drawing back into the lineup is at his discretion.

#Caps' McPhee said Backstrom passed baseline test today with "flying colors." Now it's up to him for game shape.
Backstrom still needs to work on his conditioning but he should return to the lineup shortly.

Backstrom continues to skate and took his first practice in since getting hurt. He should be an option to play again during the regular season.

#Caps center Nicklas Backstrom has been cleared to practice with no restrictions. He'll be on the ice later today after video session.
Fantastic news for all parties invested in Backstrom. With a few more practices, Backstrom should be able to return this season.

Backstrom continues to skate and workout which is very encouraging. He still has no timetable whatsoever.

Nicklas Backstrom skated about 45 minutes today with strength coach Mark Nemish at Kettler, #Caps spokesman said.
Backstrom continues to progress very slowly. Staying on the ice is a fantastic sign but there remains no timetable on Backstrom's return.

At 9:14 a.m. Thursday, Nicklas Backstrom dumped some pucks on the ice at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and stepped onto the ice for the third straight day.
Backstrom continues to skate which can only be seen as a positive sign. He has, however, been given no timetable.

Great news for Backstrom, who hopes to return this season. He scored 13 goals and 42 points in 38 games before getting hurt.

Nicklas Backstrom is in Sweden to see a specialist about the concussion that has kept him out of the lineup for 27 games, according to a report by Swedish newspaper Expressen.
There has been close to no good news on Backstrom since he got hurt. Returning to Sweden would be the icing on the cake for his owners.
