#SJSharks send forward John McCarthy to Worcester (AHL).
McCarthy is one of the few players that wouldn't need to clear waivers making him a victim of the numbers game. The fourth liner has no fantasy hockey value.
CSN California beat writer Kevin Kurz reports that the gritty and versatile Jim Vandermeer is expected to skate on the Sharks fourth line in place of John McCarthy as the Sharks kick off their season-long nine-game road trip on Sunday night in St. Louis.
McCarthy will watch tonight's game from the press box. He has no points in eight games on the team's fourth line.
The first bit of news came prior to puck-drop, when left wing John McCarthy was recalled to the San Jose Sharks. He leads Worcester in points. He was sent to the minors on Oct. 3, 2011.
McCarthy likely fills in on the fourth line. He has two goals and four points in 41 career NHL games.
If you’ve been following the Twitter traffic, you already know the Sharks have assigned Justin Braun, Benn Ferriero and John McCarthy to Worcester today.
No immediate fantasy hockey relevance while in the AHL.
