The Ducks have placed Simon Despres (concussion) on long-term injured reserve.
Despres, who has a $3.7 million cap-hit has been moved to LTIR to help create some cap flexibility for the Ducks, who are still trying to sign Hampus Lindholm. Despres is dealing with concussion issues and there’s not timetable for his return.
Despres missed the third period of Thursday’s game with an upper-body injury. There is no word how Despres suffered the injury, but it could be related to the concussion problems that he dealt with last season. Consider him day-to-day with an undisclosed upper-body injury until more information is available.
Despres (undisclosed) will return to the Ducks lineup on Tuesday.
Despres has missed the last six games with an undisclosed injury, but is set to return tonight vs. the Jets. Despres has battled injuries all season-long, but it appears he is healthy heading into the most important part of the year. Korbinian Holzer is expected to be the Ducks’ healthy scratch with Despres back in.

Despres has been sidelined since October 16th, but is expected to play tonight vs. the Bruins. Despres had no points in four games with the Ducks and one goal and one assist in four games with San Diego (AHL) during his conditioning stint.

He is expected to open the season on the Ducks’ second pair with Cam Fowler as his partner and has clearly become a big part of the Ducks’ plans going forward.

Despres, 23, was a first round pick (30th overall) in 2009. He has recorded 17 points (2G / 15A) and was leading the Penguins in hits (184) and third in blocked shots (85) in 59 games this season. He will likely slot in on the Ducks third pair.

Despres, 22, split his time between the NHL and AHL in 2013-14. He had five assists in 34 games with the Penguins and 23 points (6G / 17A) in 36 contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Despres will battle Robert Bortuzzo for the Penguins sixth D slot in 2014-15.
