Asham has been suspended four games for his cross-check and punches to the head of Flyers forward Brayden Schenn. He will not play again in the opening round and with the Pens being down 3-0, Asham's season is likely over.
Of the four players dealing with significant injuries, winger Arron Asham appears to be the only one with a good chance of getting into the lineup during the trip that begins tonight with a game at American Airlines Center and includes a visit Saturday to Denver.
Asham practiced yesterday and is certainly an option for tonight's game. Through 45 games, the rugged winger scored two goals and nine assists with 57 PIM.
Asham practiced on the third line and is likely to draw back into the lineup there. Before his concussion, the grinder scored two goals and 11 points in 41 games.
"I'm planning on being ready for the weekend; it's just a matter of whether the coaches feel confident enough to have me in or if I can crack the lineup -- the team's playing pretty good right now."
Sounds like Asham could be a possibility this weekend. Prior to getting hurt he scored two goals and 11 points in 41 games with 53 PIM.
