The Avalanche have signed Patrick Wiercioch to a one-year deal worth $800K.
Wiercioch, 25, had just five assists in 52 games with the Senators last season. He appeared in 42-to-56 games in each of the last four seasons, averaging three goals and 12 assists per year. Wiercioch brings some depth to a thin Avalanche blueline.
Wiercioch (healthy scratch) will be back in the Senators lineup on Tuesday.
Wiercioch has been a healthy scratch in the last two games, but will be back in the lineup tonight in Florida. Wiercioch has just three assists in 19 games this season. With Wiercioch back in the lineup, Shane Prince will be a healthy scratch and the Senators will go with seven defensemen.
The Senators have activated Patrick Wiercioch (muscle strain) from IR.
Wiercioch has missed the last four games, but is expected to be back in the lineup on Thursday vs. the Kings. He has one goal and three assists in 15 games this season. To make room for Wiercioch, the Sens placed Milan Michalek (upper-body) on IR.
Wiercioch has been placed on injured reserve with a muscle strain.
Wiercioch was scratched on Tuesday and did not practice on Wednesday, presumably because he was dealing with a muscle strain. His designation to IR allowed the Senators to activate Marc Methot, who could be making his season debut tonight. Wiercioch is day-to-day.
Wiercioch has been a healthy scratch in the last three games, but returns tonight against the Wild. He had his coming-out party in the shortened season, posting five goals and 19 points in 42 games. The 23-year-old is on a crowded blueline in Ottawa and has six assists in 14 games.
The Ottawa Senators re-signed defenceman Patrick Wiercioch to a three-year contract worth $2 million US per year on Monday.

In 50 career NHL games, Wiercioch has 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) and 43 penalty minutes.
